Welcome February!

Hey guys, a new month is beginning and I figured out (a month late, sadly) that I really want to do a sort of editor's letter every month and, also, have a theme for each one of them. That's why I decided that February's theme is: Greatest teenage girls. Like those super cool girls we see on TV and/or in real life. 

// Hola todos, comienza un nuevo mes y se me ocurrió (tardé un mes de más, tristemente) que me encantaría hacer una especie de carta del editor cada mes y, también, tener un tema para cada uno. Por eso decidí que el tema de febrero es: las niñas adolescentes mas buena onda. Como esas chavitas padres que vemos en la tele y/o en la vida real. 

There's always something on TV, movies, magazines and the internet world that revolves around teenage girls. Take Blair Waldorf, from Gossip Girl; Holly J. Sinclair, from Degrassi; Victoria Justice or Tavi Gevinson. All of them successful in their own particular way; all of them influential and with something to say about the world and, on top of that, all of them entertaining. 

Last month, I got in touch with my inner teenage girl because I started reading Rookie Yearbook One, edited by Tavi Gevinson and, even though it's clear that I'm not a teenage girl, I found what I've read so far, truly inspirational. I discovered that there's a world in which teenage girls are not annoying and they're quite smart and clever. It's super cool. 

Adding to this, I re-watched the first season of Gossip Girl and fell in love with it (all over again). It's thanks to characters like Blair Waldorf or Jenny Humphrey that I don't lose hope in the modern teenage girls. And they also had a great sense of style (kudos to the stylists there, though). 

So I really hope you like this month and its theme. I mean, don't we all love cool teenage girls? (I mean this in a total non-creepy way, hehe). 

// Siempre hay algo en la televisión, películas, revistas y el mundo online que gira alrededor de niñas adolescentes. Ejemplos claros son Blair Waldorf, de Gossip Girl; Holly J. Sinclair, de Degrassi; Victoria Justice o Tavi Gevinson. Todas ellas exitosas en su propia forma; todas con poder de influir y con algo que decir acerca del mundo y, por si fuera poco, todas ellas con la capacidad de entretener.

El mes pasado, entré en contacto con mi niña adolescente interna porque empecé a leer Rookie Yearbook One, editado por Tavi Gevinson y, aunque está muy claro que no soy una niña adolescente, descubrí que lo que he leído ha fungido como una gran inspiración para mí. Encontré un mundo donde las niñas adolescentes no son insoportables y son, de hecho, inteligentes y astutas. Está bien padre.

Aunado a esto, vi nuevamente la primera temporada de Gossip Girl y me enamoré de ella (otra vez). Es gracias a personajes como Blair Waldorf o Jenny Humphrey que no pierdo la fe en las niñas adolescentes modernas. Y también tienen un gran sentido del estilo (kudos a los estilistas ahí).

Así que espero que les guste este mes y su tema. Digo, ¿no amamos todos a las niñas adolescentes buena onda? (Digo esto en una forma completamente profesional y no acosadora, jeje).
